Obama and Romney agree on charter schools; some locals do not

Education reform writer Richard Whitmire urges parents to tune out the noise and notice that both President Barack Obama and Governor Mitt Romney agree that we should be building more great charter schools. “Obama and Romney Right to Agree on Charters”, Richard Whitmire, Huffington Post, June 21, 2012. Whitmire discusses his research at True North Preparatory in Troy, New York and Rocketship in San Jose, California.

Locally, charter schools are facing opposition. Express-News columnist Fred Williams noting the recent school finance lawsuit filed by a charter school group, and also Romney’s praise of charter schools at the recent NAACP meeting, claims that “the demise of public schools could follow.” “Charter school success claims misleading”, Fred Williams, San Antonio Express-News, July 12, 2012.
